Engagement photo ideas – nearby field of poppies

Mischa's artist edit of Lindsey and PaulLindsey & Paul are SO. MUCH. FUN.
These two are so in love, and so very easy going.
We are/were planning a full engagement session with multiple outfits and a few special locations. (one of which is so secret that we don’t have an address for it yet, Lindsey & Paul have sentimental attachment to this special place and we’re excited to help them create lasting images and new memories of it)
BUT.
Paul is a fireman (HOT!) and his schedule is ever changing.
and
Mischa and I (Bri/e) are leaving for Greece at the end of April, so we’re booked booked booked for the next 2 weeks.
AND
They need an image for their save-the-dates sooner than later.

So…
We planned a quickie engagement session that we could do mid-day / mid-week.

Poppy field and parasol, behind the scenes with MischaSince we’re new-ish to the Sacramento area and have less “OMG. This place is awesome and not yet overdone”ideas to suggest than when we’re in San Francisco…
Mischa took a walk, with the dogs (Little Man & Marzipan) to scout for local engagement photo ideas.

Lo and behold, a bright swath of orange and gold caught his eye. A field of California poppies (our state flower) was flourishing in a very large construction area. (fenced, of course)
Luck was on our side. Mischa located an access point.
Not a “No Trespassing” sign in sight
(whew! – I am a sign-reading, rule-follower by nature).
Although, there is a “No Loitering” sign, I truly don’t feel as though we were loitering.
Aaaand I digress.

We packed up the mini-van and in less than enough time than it takes to sing the star-spangled banner, we were at our destination.

Piggy back savior heels from the fieldThe session was super quick, we laughed the whole time.
At one point, Lindsey exclaimed, “I can’t stop smiling!”.

Yep, that’s how we do it.

As soon as I got inside and set the cameras down I started to download the cards/upload the images.
(the whole upload/download distinction drives me crazy sometimes).
Mid “file transfer”
😉
a favorite made itself known and I started flagging the ones from “behind the scenes”.
One went to Lindsey’s facebook page (I love posting teasers right away),
the other went to our Sacramento business fan page ( are you a fan yet? )

beautiful bride to be in royal blueThen, a strange thing happened. I left the office.
Really though, I went to a class on optimizing your website taught by the super nice and informative Zach Prez of Photography Spark.
I learned so much about what I’ve been doing wrong and how to get more website traffic.
(Thanks for the info, Zach, crossing my fingers I did you proud with this one)

What does that mean, exactly?

More blog posts.

From me – to here.

Hooray, right? Yep. (Yes, Mischa, you were right)
Blogging is to be MY new Facebook
Not just words, pictures too.

Here’s my faves of Lindsey & Paul. Can’t wait to see which one(s) they pick and post their finished save-the-date design. (Custom by Mischa, of course)

adoring smile and tippy toes
grey converse and nude strappy stilettos

engagement ring shown around his neckNow I just need help with photo sizing and placement 🙂

Crossing my fingers it gets easier & prettier from here.
